Welcome to Springfield Middle School!
On February 5th our Grade 7 students took part in an initiative that provided students opportunities to exercise their critical thinking skills. We have taken aspects from both our Science and Social Studies curriculum, bringing in presenters, and posed to students the question “What can we do to make the world a better place?”
Grade 6 students participated in a Social Studies blanket exercise with a goal to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non Indigenous peoples in Canada. Students used blankets to represent the land of Turtle Island into roles of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
Thanks to SMS alumni Kevin Hughes for bringing the Grey Cup to SMS! Along with Winnipeg Blue Bomber Linebacker Thomas Miles, Buzz and Boomer!
SMS students participated in the "Take 3 For Climate Justice" Youth Action Challenge, put on by CBC and secured a place on March 3rd 2020, working with Bill Nye and other like minded students from across the province.
Their entry video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRdykDLzD_g.
SMS supports the local food bank by participating in Cram The Cruiser with Constable Monkman!
